Orchids - a Journey of Discovery (BA Illustration Thesis at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg)
Orchids form one of the largest families in the world, yet they face unprecedented threats of extinction. This work documents a personal research trip to Singapore and explores the complex relationship between orchid diversity and conservation through the lens of botanical illustration. How can artistic practice bridge scientific knowledge and public understanding?
A collaboration with researchers at the Singapore Botanic Gardens enabled extensive research and a unique perspective on local conservation efforts. Conservation starts on a regional scale, with each country taking responsibility for the rehabilitation of their own biodiversity.
